My son and our visitors
I have been wanting to write something in the blog, but somehow one way or another, things seem to get in the way. Anyway I hope I manage to post something today as my internet line tends to be disconnected for some reasons.
Well, as you all know it's winter now and it's so different from last winter. When my son and I arrived here last winter(Dec 2008), there was no snow at all, but it was freezingly cold and the canals and lakes were soon frozen. But this time, it has been snowing since before christmas, throughout the month of January and also early February. The weekend before christmas was the most wonderful, there was so much snow (about 1 foot of snow), and it was so unusual and so unlike Holland! People had been saying that they had not seen that much of snow since they were small! Everybody went out and took pictures, even the Dutch! I believe the whole of Europe was affected, in fact that same weekend the Eurostar train services was disrupted and passengers were trapped under the English Channel.
These pictures were all taken within walking distance from our house. The almost frozen canals and the wild ducks make it so picturesque..

Yes the winter is terrible across the globe from Russia to Europe and even worst in the US. Kat Taman Munshi ni pun teruk habis kebanyakkan pokok mati.....bukan pasal kemarau tapi sbb tak jirus air kat pokok.

ReplyDeleteLamanya tak rasa salji yg betul & lamanya kita tak bersua...kali terakhir rasanya masa Sham visit u all kat New Castle in 87 kan? Rindunya dan Sham rasa org lain pun rindu jugak kat I Amsterdam...

Anyway, I'm impressed with your Dutch!! I'm ashamed to admit that my Dutch is not much better than yours ha..ha.. I had to ask my Dutch friend the meaning of "reak stand".
Memang seronok main salji kali ni. Dulu masa kat uk salji banyak turun masa kami kat Newcastle je, tapi bila dah kembali ke london, tak ada pulak... Kali ni enjoy betul sampai dah tak larat tengok snow sebab bulan February pun masih turun salji!!!
